Adventure Ride
August 14, 2024 I still remember that day. I thought then I
would never travel at night again.
If we talk about that day, it was the day we decided to go
to Monaragala grandfather’s house. We had planned to leave before evening, but
we were able to start the journey only at 3 p.m. that day. It was a very rainy
day. We traveled on a three-wheeler. After taking my sister from work, we put
on the map and started the journey. During the journey, a short road was shown
on the map at a distance of two kilometers to Galle, so we took that road. But
eventually we got stuck on a highway entrance. We were shocked to see it. From
now on we were scared.
Again, we put the map on the Galle Road and went through
small roads, mountains, forest roads, but finally the map took us to the
highway access roads. At first, we thought it was our way around, but in the end,
we realized that we were lost because of the map, so we decided to stop looking
at the map and ask the people on the road hoe to get to Galle Road. By this time,
we had started to sweat even though it was raining. Because of fear.
After going round, we finally reached the main Galle Road
after 4 hours. Until then, we have been hanging around Galle. The body bled a
little after teaching the Galle Road. While going like this, the three-wheeler
that we were traveling in stopped at the same time. I still remember the name
of the area. In the area called “Ranna” the vehicle broke down and we had
nothing to do. At that moment, as if God has seen it, a human being came to
help us. On that day, there was a musical show in that area, so all the people
gathered there. The young man who came to help us was about my age. About two
hours of effort, the young man fixed our vehicle. I still thank young man from
the bottom of my heart for the help he gave us that day.
It was past midnight when we left there. The young man
warned us that there were elephants on the road ahead of us. We became more
afraid after hearing that story. Remembering God, we moved forward through
dense forest. I didn’t sleep for a minute, remembering the Buddha, and looked
carefully on both sides of the road to see if there were any elephants. As we
were going, a group of people in a jeep told us not to move forward from here
and that there are elephants in front of us. We were more afraid. We turned
back and went the other way. While going like this, my eyes suddenly switched
as my brother’s neck suddenly fell down. I realized that he fell asleep at
once. “Brother” I asked loudly. Since then, I have been very vigilant.
After traveling along, we finally reached our destination at
4 a.m. The journey started at 3 o’clock in the evening the previous day and ended
at 4 o’clock in the morning the next day. Even day, when I remember that trip,
my body gets cold. I decided never to look at the map while traveling.😨
